Kent Police Open Day 2022

KSAR took part in this the 10th Year the event has taken place.

This event covers 3 Days, a Day for Police Families, a Day for the Public and a Day for Schools.

Over 14,000 people attended the public open day. It was a wonderful sunny day but not too warm and it was great to see so many families and children engaging with all of the stands put on for them.

We took some of our vehicles including the Incident Command Vehicle, a Rigid Boat and some Kayaks. We had the support of a team of members and quite a few of our search dogs.

Everyone had a great time sitting in the kayaks, trying on the equipment, jumping in the boat, looking around the vehicles, attempting the throw line challenge, getting strapped into a stretcher, talking to members and of course meeting the pooches.

On the Schools Day many, many schools came by the bus load and we saw thousands of excited and happy children. The Children had an amazing day from what we could see. Thank you to all the Teachers and Teaching Assistants for keeping an eye on them and coming to talk with us. I think they had fun too!

Our longest serving member Sue Beddingfield had the pleasure of meeting with Chief Constable Alan Pughsley, who dropped by to see us and thank us for all that we do for the community of Kent assisting them with searches for high risk vulnerable missing persons. Sue managed to get the KSAR sticker nicely placed !

Then she spent some time with Assitant Chief Constable Pete Ayling who also dropped by to see us.

Sue has since featured in the Police Magazine from her meeting with Chief Constable Alan Pughsley and we look forward to seeing that article when it gets to print.
