While we understand that, work and family commitments are priorities, are you willing to make every effort to respond to callouts, you should understand that we may contact you at work, or in the middle of the night. Do you understand this? Yes No Probationary StatusYou will be in a probationary status until appropriately qualified. During which you are expected to show commitment to training sessions, as well as your own personal/private training outside of the group sessions. At the end of this period, you will be evaluated on attendance, training and professionalism. Successful completion of this probation period and evaluation will result in the offer of full membership. Do you understand this? Yes No TrainingOnce you have become a full member, you will be expected to maintain an annual training commitment. You should understand that failure to maintain these training requirements may result in you being removed from the operational list until you can achieve these. Whilst we are all volunteers, and have work, family and social commitments that sometimes preclude us taking part in as much as we would like, we cannot compromise the maintenance of our high standards and operational capabilities. Yes No Search OperationsAs a member of the Kent Search & Rescue, you will be expected to work closely with and under the direction of Kent Police and other agencies. You may be assigned to carry out tasks such as: field work in rough terrain and poor weather conditions, communications, medical aid, or others as needed. Safety is a top priority, and you may be re-assigned if you feel you are not ready for an assignment or are unable to perform it. Do you understand this? Yes No Equipment, fundraising and financial commitmentsDo you understand that you will need to provide items of your own personal equipment? You will also be required to pay the current deposit of £35 for the personal protective equipment given to you for use during searches. All equipment remains the property of Kent Search and Rescue and must be returned if you leave the organisation. As a member of Kent Search and Rescue you will be liable to an annual subscription (pro rata currently) £30 per year and do you understand that if you fail to pay the subscription that your membership can be withdrawn. As a paid-up member, you will have the right to vote on all matters, if your subscription lapses this right will be revoked. You will also be required to assist whenever possible with the various fundraising and community activities throughout the year. Kent Search and Rescue will not be able to reimburse you for any travel costs or other costs associated with training or operations. Do you understand this? Yes No Background investigation and confidentialityAll prospective members are required to submit to a confidential background investigation, which includes criminal history, medical and financial checks performed by Kent Police. It is important to the Police Authority and the unit that all members are of sound character and show good personal conduct. Members will often be involved in sensitive situations requiring trust and the ability to respect confidentiality. You will be required to sign a Confidentiality Agreement and any contravention of this may result in disciplinary action being taken. You will be expected to maintain the personal lifestyle of an upstanding, law abiding citizen whilst a member of Kent Search and Rescue.Statement of AgreementI understand that any false statements and/or deliberate misrepresentations, whether by omission or commission, will result in my application being automatically and irrevocably rejected from further consideration.
