
Kent Search & Rescue (Lowland) makes every effort to conduct its service in such a manner that injury to casualties found and to volunteers can be avoided and that they perform their services without risks to their Health and Safety.
The Management Committee takes responsibility for:
- Selection of candidate volunteers of an acceptable standard that will not expose other volunteers to risks to their health and safety.
- Policy on all aspects of Search Management, with particular reference to Health and Safety requirements for operational members, to include:
- Risk Assessment
- Manual Handling training
- Personal Safety
- Health Surveillance and Counselling
The Logistics Manager takes responsibility for:
- All practicable steps to ensure that the equipment is checked and maintained in a safe working condition.
- Ensure that this equipment is available for use as and when required.
- Advise the Management Committee when equipment is no longer viable and will source options for replacement.
The Search and Training
Manager takes responsibility for:
- Ensuring that the methods of search are safe and all volunteers will
receive adequate training in their search practices and each training
module will contain suitable and sufficient reference to Health and
Safety aspects of the activity.
- All activities from training exercises to major searches are assessed
for risk prior to members being deployed.
- Issue supplementary safety instructions pertaining to Health and Safety
matters as necessary to ensure that these instructions are communicated
to all volunteers.
